Some comments for 12.2 Technology updates

My comments for the technology updates.
"On the application middle tier, Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 now includes Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.6) which provides more flexible capabilities for high availability and performance to Oracle E-Business Suite nodes."

The good news that the really old OAS software finally dropped out from EBS. But why not 12c version of Weblogic? The 12.2 still contain the old 10.1.2 forms server, why? There is the 11g version of forms server which is using Weblogic too.

"Additionally, Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 now supports 64-bit implementations of Java, which enhance the ability to handle very large amounts of data beyond what 32- bit implementations of Java can support."
Other best news, now the BI Publisher based reports could use much bigger XML files? Have to test it...
"The enhancements include the provision of application tier node services, the use of native Oracle Database and Oracle Fusion Middleware installation tools to install and configure these technology stack components, and support for integrating Oracle E- Business Suite with existing Oracle Database 11g Release 2 and Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Release 1 homes."
"Rapid Install now supports installing Oracle E-Business Suite into a Grid Infrastructure (Oracle RAC/ASM) environment."
Good, but I hope that the first installation will same simple as at previous versions. Or I have to install infrastructure softwares first then the EBS components just like as a Fusion Applications installation? Hope not.
"To simplify the administration process, Oracle Applications Manager has been integrated with Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g Fusion Middleware Control. "
Why only at this version? Need a backport for the older EBS version's OAS component too.
"One of the key features of Release 12.2 is the switch to an online patching (OLP) mechanism which allows patches to be applied without disrupting business users. Online Patching is possible due to a new feature called Edition-Based Redefinition (EBR) introduced on Oracle Database 11g Release 11.2.0.2. This feature significantly reduces the downtime traditionally needed for patching and related maintenance activities."
And means doubled disk space requirement for application tier for every enviroment (test and development too, where it isn't needable feature), will it really work well in first version? Just as we used too, we have to wait for a really workable second version of this feature...
"Oracle Application Framework is now certified to run on the iPad."
And Android? Androids mobile devices are more widespreaded.
"Oracle E-Business Suite Integrated SOA Gateway now uses Oracle SOA Suite 11g running on Oracle WebLogic Server 11g to provide greater capabilities and best-in-class SOA infrastructure for Oracle E-Business Suite. In this integration, Oracle SOA Suite provides the most current SOA technology such as Web services standards support, protocols, and binding, while Oracle E-Business Suite Integrated SOA Gateway provides the integration content, such as the integration interfaces, security model, and guidelines for best practices." - and many others for this component
Hope this will now a real SOA interface, not just a Potemkin "Web" interface for the old interface API-s (tables, PL/SQL functions...)

"Oracle Report Manager is now certified with Microsoft Office 2010 for the 32-bit release. "
"Oracle Web ADI is now certified with Microsoft Office 2010 for the 32-bit release. "
Hmm, today we live in 2013... Office 2010 is not the latest version...

"In Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2, the Notification System and the Worklist UI pages have been appreciably improved"

There are so many, really useful enhancements for Workflow in the documents... But why don't use it BPEL at least for the new functions? :)
